What is an AZW file?
An AZW file is a Kindle eBook format file based on the Mobipocket (MOBI) format. Typically DRM protected, it is used for Amazon's Kindle eBook readers. When downloading eBooks or transferring Kindle books, you will often see AZW files. These files store bookmarks, annotations, reading position, page numbers, and more.
Newer Kindle devices use KFX (KF10) or AZW3 (KF8) formats for eBooks.
How to open an AZW file?
On Windows, Mac, Android, or iOS, use Amazon's free Kindle app or Kindle Previewer. On desktop, you can also use Calibre or Sumatra PDF if the book is DRM-free.
